Montenegro: “State reform is a must”

Luís Montenegro has already taken office as Prime Minister, stating the essential points that he wants to mark the start of the Government, defending “war on bureaucracy”.
In his speech, the Prime Minister said that he received a “larger majority” and with “significant representation compared to the second and third political forces”, adding that “the country needs those who want to build and not those who only think about destroying”.
Quoting Agustina, “the country does not need someone to say what is wrong; it needs someone to know what is right,” said Montenegro, who also wanted to bring Sá Carneiro. “The Portuguese are anxious for the leaders to stop debating ideology and making grand speeches and focus on the simple and discreet exercise of their function: working to solve people’s problems, the nation’s problems.”
“Today I declare war on bureaucracy, the lack of capacity for coordination between public bodies, the delay in responding to requests from people, institutions and companies, excessive regulation and the backyard culture of many entities, employees and managers,” Montenegro added.
Another focus is security, something that is “worth its weight in gold”, said the Prime Minister.
“Security is a pillar of freedom, peace of mind, the exercise of rights and quality of life. But it is also an economic asset. It is essential when deciding where to invest and, as I said before, where to work”, he concluded.
